Overview of Porcelain Veneers

Store-bought cleansers are notorious for containing long lists of harmful chemicals known to cause anything from birth defects to asthma to cancer. Healthy homes are those that use natural means of cleaning without the use of the dangerous chemicals. Below are 4 ingredients to help you keep your home clean and safe for children and pets.

Lemons
Who doesn't love the fresh, clean scent of lemons? Freshly squeezed lemon juice can remove grease from stove tops, eliminate mildew and mold, kill germs, and remove stains due to its natural bleaching abilities. A bit of lemon juice diluted with water can kill germs on cutting boards. Mixing it in with a bit of salt makes an excellent polish for chrome. Smelly plastic food containers? Soak them in a lemon juice/water mixture overnight. Adding a cup of lemon juice to your laundry will brighten whites just as well as bleach.

White Vinegar
White vinegar is known to have strong antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. It is also invaluable around the home as a potent cleanser. Leaving a bowl of vinegar in a room overnight can eliminate smoke odors. Carpet stains? Rub them with a mixture of 1/2 cup of vinegar with and 2 tablespoons of salt. (Make sure the salt is dissolved in the vinegar.) Let dry, then vacuum. Refresh your refrigerator by cleaning the inside with a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water.

Baking Soda
Baking soda is the king of household cleansers. It makes an effective scouring powder for bathtubs, kitchen sinks, and counter tops. Dump half a box down a clogged drain, pour in white vinegar, then flush with hot water to remove the clog. Sprinkle baking soda on your carpets and rugs, wait 15 minutes, then vacuum for a fresh scent. Remove hair product buildup from your hairbrush and combs by soaking them in 2 cups of water to which a teaspoon of baking soda has been added. Sprinkle baking soda over a counter top and then spray with white vinegar to remove stubborn stains.

Salt
Salt has a potent deodorizing and scouring effect. To remove rust and mildew stains on white clothes, make a paste of salt and lemon juice, then gently rub the area. Let the item dry in the sun, then launder as usual. Pour salt on a piece of paper, then iron it with a hot iron to remove any sticky residue from the bottom. Clean up wine spills on clothing or tablecloths by immediately covering the spill with salt. Let the item sit for an hour, then soak in cold water for 30 minutes. Launder as usual.

A clean home doesn't have to be toxic. Follow the tips above to have a spotless home that is also healthy.
